Sad news for raptors this evening

The Toronto Raptors confirmed Precious Achiuwa and Otto Porter Jr.’s injuries but declined to comment on Christian Koloko’s situation.

As the Toronto Raptors’ preseason proceeds, the absence of news on Christian Koloko is getting somewhat concerning.

Since before Summer League in July, the 7-foot center has been out with respiratory troubles. He is out indefinitely, and when pressed for more information about the injury and whether it is a long-term problem, Raptors coach Darko Rajakvi declined to answer, preferring to leave the matter ambiguous.

Precious Achiuwa, who is still recovering from a left groin ailment, returned to workouts with the rest of the group. During the open-to-the-media portion of Wednesday’s practice, he was observed shooting.

“Doing much better,” Rajaković said of Achiuwa. “He did a great job in treatments, in the weight room. So, he is progressing really well.”

It sounds like the strain isn’t expected to be a long-term issue.

As for Otto Porter Jr., the team continues to take it slow with the oft-injured 30-year-old wing. Porter missed all of last season with a toe injury and is still being worked back into the swing of things.

“Today was the day he played 3-on-3 live against some younger guys on the roster. He did really well today. So hopefully we’re going to see him in the preseason,” Rajaković said.

Otherwise, the Raptors appear to be at full strength, having returned home from Vancouver with their next preseason game scheduled for Sunday against the Cairns Taipans of Australia’s National Basketball League.
