Breaking news: £30k-per-week Wolves’ hero is named the Premier League’s most ‘clinical’ player this season.

Hwang Hee-Chan has been outstanding for Wolves this season in the Premier League.

Hwang Hee-Chan, a South Korean forward for Wolves, has already equaled his best-ever Premier League goal tally this season.

Hwang has become one of the first names on the team sheet, with Gary O’Neil hailing him as ‘outstanding’ after five league goals and one in the Carabao Cup.

Hwang has scored in his previous four games at Molineux, putting him on the cusp of matching a Wolves record of five consecutive home games.

This isn’t Hwang’s only great number this season as he emerges as one of Wolves’ most important players.

Hwang most clinical in the Premier League

A recent study by The Athletic learned that Hwang is the league’s most clinical player.

“On the positive side of things, no player has enjoyed a more clinical start to the season than Wolves’ Hwang Hee-chan, having scored five goals — 55.6 per cent of his team’s total this season — from an xG of just 1.2, representing an overperformance of 3.8.”

This massive overperformance of expected goals doesn’t exactly bode well for the remainder of the season as it can be somewhat unsustainable.

Wolves will need to improve their attack and put him in more positions to score high xG goals in order for their £30k-per-week star to keep adding to his tally.

Who do Wolves play next?

Next up this Saturday sees Wolves head to the south coast as they take on Bournemouth at the Vitality.

Wolves have the opportunity to extend their unbeaten run to three with a win or draw here.

With a home game against Newcastle next weekend, Wolves will be hoping to not only pick up more points but see Hwang equal the record.

Newcastle could of course be suffering from a European hangover for that game.
