Former Bears player Steve McMichael is recovering in the intensive care unit after being treated for sepsis.
CBS Chicago reports The family of Chicago Bears legend Steve McMichael has asked for your prayers after he was admitted to the intensive care unit.
McMichael was unconscious when he was rushed to the hospital on Thursday night to get intravenous antibiotics for sepsis. Sepsis is the body’s excessive and potentially fatal response to an infection, and it can result in tissue damage, organ failure, and death. “Like the tough warrior that he is, he is now awake, and his vitals are improving.” “His wife, Misty, is by his side and is requesting prayers from his fans,” a McMichael spokesperson said in a statement.
In 2021, McMichael was diagnosed with ALS, also known as Lou Gehrig’s disease.
The Super Bowl XX champion with the Chicago Bears, popularly known as “Mongo” to fans, was chosen a semifinalist for the Pro Football Hall of Fame last month.

His family claimed in a Saturday update that he is recuperating and the sepsis is gone, but McMichael is still fighting pneumonia.
