“Mark is super competitive, with good pace and lateral movement which we think will complement our young and developing backline well.”
Keane, who is 194cm tall and weighs 96kg, said the time was right for him to return to Australia and he was excited to continue his AFL career with Adelaide.
“I never lost my passion for playing this sport and when the opportunity arose to return, it was obviously something I seriously considered,” Keane said.
Aaron Cadman’s advice for Harley Reid ahead of the No. 1 club trade
As the hype surrounding Harley Reid grows ahead of his official coronation as a overall draft pick This year’s AFL No.1, the man who wore last year’s No.1 crown has pleaded with Reid to enjoy the experience before his world changes forever.
Aaron Cadman, taken by Greater Western Sydney last year after a so-called mega trade, says every draft hopeful will approach their draft night differently, but he believes simple things such as spending time with family and friends should be cherished before entering the demanding full-time world of AFL footy.
Reid is the most hyped draft prospect to come through junior systems in years – possibly ever. The powerful Victorian mid-forward is the consensus No. 1 pick and will be heading to West Coast unless the Eagles decide to trade the top pick to a rival, although any offer to secure the rights to Reid would have to be monumental.
The Vic Country star appears to have taken all the hype in his stride as he waits for his life-changing moment on November 20, although history says the weight of being named first can carry significant pressure.
GWS’ Cadman wasn’t a consensus No. 1 pick through his Under-18 season, only rising to the top of draft boards late, and especially so once the Giants snared the rights to the top pick.
After his first season in orange, Cadman said Reid should try to enjoy his final weeks of amateurism before becoming an AFL footballer.
“That’s something I really enjoy,” Cadman told ESPN of preparing for the draft. “I don’t have a lot of pressure and I don’t see too much [in the media about being a possible pick]. pick number 1] but I guess there’s always some kind of pressure… I really love it.
“When I heard about the big trade happening, I thought ‘maybe I’ll become number 1,’ which is actually pretty crazy, because at the beginning of the year, I was just praying to get drafted in anywhere, and the idea that it’s possible to get to number 1 is quite bizarre.
“We talked a little bit about getting into the top 10 but when this conversation happened it confirmed without confirmation, if you know what I mean.“What I would say to anyone entering the draft: enjoy it.
[The latter part of his U18 season] was probably the best time I played football, it was special time. So make the most of it, and enjoy draft night.
“When your name is read, make the most of it.
This is so special for you and your family and the beginning of a whole new life. In the month or two [before enlistment], enjoy being with friends and family, because things change pretty quickly. enough to make 12 appearances last season, scoring six goals before being dropped from the Giants side, who enjoyed a blistering run until September.
He was rated highly when evaluating his first season. year…
I probably had the opportunity to play 12 games and obviously I wanted to do better, but overall I’m happy with my year and I feel like I’m progressing well, and that makes me prepare well for years “In the first few weeks [after enlistment], you quickly realize that it’s a full-time job – it’s fun and everything is great, but it’s a lot more serious much.
You go from working out twice a week for an hour or an hour and a half to five or six days a week and three-hour sessions. It hits you in the face pretty quickly.
“Things like healing, taking care of yourself… you need to take it more seriously.
“So of course you have to fight against men – some [recruits] are already there, and I Hate to be patient but I have to be. It’s important to have a little patience – I’ll have my time to shine but I’ll have to work.
“My goal for the season is to spend time with my family [during his rest period] and this pre-season will be very important for me, I will work on my fitness, my physical strength and skills, but it will be really difficult.”
“I just need to give myself a chance to have an excellent year next season. »
