Sakala joins Al-Fayha after leaving Rangers ‘with a broken heart’.

Fashion Sakala, a Zambian forward, has left Rangers for Saudi Arabian club Al-Fayha for an undisclosed price. The 26-year-old joined Ibrox in the summer of 2021 from KV Oostende, where he scored 24 goals in 91 games.

Sakala had already stated on social media that he was leaving Ibrox “with a heavy heart, yet a spirit of gratitude.” Sakala’s move was characterized as a “very good opportunity” by Rangers manager Michael Beale.

Sakala, who had a contract with Rangers until 2025, posted an emotional farewell to fans on Instagram after being left out of the Champions League qualification squad.

“Today marks the end of an unforgettable chapter in my life,” he stated in an email. “I bid farewell to this illustrious club.”

“When I first joined Rangers, I could have never imagined the profound impact this club and its community would have on my life.”

Sakala stated that his “sense of belonging” from being accepted at Ibrox was “the driving force behind my performances on the pitch.”

He congratulated the club’s “entire management and staff,” as well as its fans, and stated that he will “always be a Ranger at heart.”

Sakala, according to Beale, has a “infectious personality” and is a “outstanding teammate,” according to the club website.

“He leaves Rangers with a lot of friends and a big good luck from all the staff and players,” said the club’s boss. “He will always be welcome back at Ibrox in the future.”
