A SAD NEWS: A look at ‘Frozen Frenzy,’ the NHL’s equivalent to football …..

NHL players and coaches are creatures of habit, and Detroit Red Wings bench manager Derek Lalonde was irritated by the fact that he had to change things up for Tuesday’s home game against the Seattle Kraken.

Frozen Frenzy, the NHL’s answer to NFL RedZone, made its premiere on Tuesday. All 32 teams were in play, with game timings ranging from 6:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. ET.

“We play a lot of back-to-backs, some of them are difficult. It doesn’t bother me. It comes with the territory of being the Detroit Red Wings. People want to see us because we’re interesting. We assist the league with TV and other services, and this is one example.”

Alex DeBrincat, the Red Wings’ current NHL goals leader, was not as furious as his coach, claiming that his routine had not been dramatically affected.

“Perhaps a little longer nap in the middle of the day,” DeBremarkedincat r, according to Khan. “Almost everything else is the same.” It’s only been an hour. It’s not all that horrible.

Detroit eventually lost 5-4 in overtime, with Jordan Eberle scoring the game-winning goal with five seconds remaining. In the process, the Red Wings’ five-game winning streak was snapped.

Despite the setback, the Red Wings have been one of the biggest shocks so far in the 2023-24 season, going 5-1-1. However, whether their hot streak will last is debatable.

The concept of “Frozen Frenzy” is undeniably enticing to NHL fans.

It’s a wonderful idea to be able to devote a night to keeping up with all the greatest activity from around the league in the same manner that NFL fans get to watch football every Sunday.

Unfortunately, the NHL was never going to be able to replicate the near-perfect entertainment offering that is NFL RedZone. That has nothing to do with the quality of the sports, but rather with how they are organized.

With football, it’s easy to predict which moments will be exciting ahead of time. That is significantly more difficult to achieve in a flow sport like hockey.

RedZone also has the advantage of a skilled and simple host, Scott Hanson, who understands his role.
