an injury update: for the Browns

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — The Browns sustained numerous major injuries only 10 minutes into their last preseason game against the Chiefs in Kansas City on Saturday. As the game progressed, the number of injuries grew.

First, wide receiver and return specialist Jakeem Grant was taken off the field after injuring himself on the first kickoff. A league source verified that he has a fractured patella and that the severity of the injury would be assessed Sunday with more MRI testing.

Cleveland Browns Jordan Kunaszyk, a linebacker and special teams star, stayed down on the pitch and was carried off by trainers, who brought him into the blue medical tent for assessment. He was forced to leave the game due to a knee injury.

Then kicker Cade York ended up in the medical tent. York, who had just missed a PAT, collapsed on the ground, clutching his foot. Trainers

came to check on him and assist him in getting inside the medical tent. Punter Corey Bojorquez took over the next kickoff.

York emerged from the tent only moments later, insisting he was alright. York was searching for his helmet and couldn’t find it in time, so Bojorquez took the kickoff.

York returned to the field for the Browns’ PAT following Deshaun Watson’s touchdown strike to David Njoku.

“It turned out fine; I got rolled up on.” I think it was more frightening when it happened than how awful it felt. It was fortunate that it did not worsen, but it was all okay. “I ended up kicking it through,” York said.
