Jayson Tatum of the Boston Celtics discusses his bond with Patriots legend Tom Brady.

NEW YORK (AP) —While the Celtics prepare to open the regular season against the Knicks on Wednesday, Jayson Tatum had some downtime. He took advantage of the chance by attending a Make-a-Wish event at Brooklyn’s Barclays Center on Tuesday in collaboration with Fanatics.

He was one of the main attractions, with Patriots icon Tom Brady and Yankees phenom Aaron Judge. The athletes took part in the event with nine children, running drills and other activities, signing autographs and spending one-on-one time with the children. Tatum also had the opportunity to speak with one of the game’s all-time greats, Tom Brady.

“I know him pretty well,” Tatum said at Celtics shootaround Wednesday. “I met him when he was still with the Patriots. Tom is the best. He has every reason to be arrogant and all those things, but truly down to earth. He texts me from time-to-time. He watches the games. He’s just a really, really great guy, and to be the best football player of all-time, it says a lot about him.”
