Friedman reports that an investigation into the matter began over the summer and intensified in recent weeks as the league conducted a hearing on the matter.. In a mini-episode of the 32 Thoughts podcast, Friedman said he thinks the process accelerated as soon as Pinto left the Ottawa area – where fans saw him skating alone – and returned home..
