An Alabama football commit, was arrested on second-degree rape charges.

Four-star Alabama football recruit Deon Johnson was arrested on Thursday, according to Andrew Gribble of the Mobile Press-Register. He was reportedly charged with second-degree rape and sodomy and was eventually released from custody on bond.

Details about the alleged incident remain few and far between as the investigation continues. The 18-year-old offensive playmaker committed to the Crimson Tide back in April and was one of the top recruits in the state of Alabama.

Deon Johnson agrees with son: 'the month of July will be a big one' for Michigan

He’s known for his lightning speed and soft hands, likely making him a future wide receiver in the Tide offense even though he’s viewed as an athlete right now. His big-play ability allowed him to generate interest from Auburn, LSU and others before making his choice.

It’s unclear if this situation will have any impact on his standing with Alabama. Head coach Nick Saban and his coaching staff will likely wait for more details to emerge before making any decisions on what action to take, if any, with Johnson.

Johnson currently attends Spanish Fort High School, where he emerged as a junior by scoring 19 touchdowns for the Toros. He picked up right where he left off by scoring a touchdown in the first game of his senior campaign, according to the report.

Alex Scarborough of ESPN reported in July that Johnson didn’t receive a lot of attention before signing with Alabama because he had a lack of football experience. The progress he made pointed toward a bright future as a member of the Crimson Tide.

Instead, it’s a future that now contains a lot more question marks, at least until more information about the charges is released to the public
