what a sad news as Clemson Tigers player suffers a lifetime chronic knee injury

Clemson coach Dabo Swinney updates quarterback Cade Klubnik’s injury status

Quarterback Cade Klubnik got a huge win on Saturday. But it didn’t come without some concern for his injury status heading into the Tigers’ 31-23 upset win over No. 12 Notre Dame on Saturday at Memorial Stadium.

Swinney said postgame there was a “lot of concern” immediately following last week’s NC State loss that Klubnik wouldn’t be able to play against Notre Dame due to what appeared to be a right leg injury suffered against the Wolfpack.

Klubnik practiced Monday or Tuesday, Swinney said but didn’t get any competitive reps until Wednesday because of an undisclosed injury.

Klubnik played the entire game Saturday with a sleeve on his right leg and a heavily wrapped right foot. He was reportedly wearing a walking boot earlier in the week.

Klubnik didn’t miss a snap against the Fighting Irish, though. “This kid’s tough,” Swinney said. “He’s got some moxie.”

Klubnik said postgame his foot feels “great,” indicating he should be good to go moving forward as the Tigers (5-4, 2-4 ACC) close the regular season against Georgia Tech, UNC and South Carolina.

“My foot feels great,” Klubnik said. “I felt 100% today. … Just kinda handled it, what the coaches told me to to do and what the trainers told me to do, but I feel great.”
