The Los Angeles Rams are likely to reintroduce Matthew Stafford as their starting quarterback against the Seattle Seahawks in Week 11. Stafford left the game against the Dallas Cowboys in Week 8 due to a sprained UCL in his right thumb.He did not play in Week 9 against the Green Bay Packers.

Their bye week arrived just in time, giving him an extra week to rest.

During the Los Angeles Rams’ 2021 Super Bowl run, the quarterback sustained numerous injuries.

 

In exchange for Matthew Stafford, the Rams gave the Detroit Lions Jared Goff, a 2021 third-round pick, a 2022 first-round pick, and a 2023 first-round pick.

Stafford had a number of injuries during the 2021 season. During the spring, he had surgery on his right thumb. During training camp, he re-injured his thumb after colliding with a teammate’s helmet.

He also dealt with a sprained ankle, pain in his right elbow, and a sore back during the season. He suffered a toe sprain in the season finale vs. the San Francisco 49ers.

Stafford toughened up and managed to play in every game during the 2021 season. He went 404/601 for 4,886 yards and threw 41 touchdowns and 17 interceptions. He also went 98/140 for 1,188 yards and threw nine touchdowns and three interceptions. He led the Rams to a Super Bowl victory over the Bengals.

Stafford’s 2022 campaign was cut short due to injuries.

Stafford signed a 4-year, $160 million extension with the Rams on March 19, 2022. He underwent an elbow procedure during the offseason. He didn’t throw during spring workouts and was on a throwing schedule during training camp
