The Cleveland Browns announced tight end David Njoku is questionable for Sunday’s game against the Baltimore Ravens after getting injured during a “household accident.

Cleveland elevated tight end Zaire Mitchell-Paden to the active roster with Njoku’s status up in the air. Mitchell-Paden, who signed with Cleveland as an undrafted free agent in 2022, was on the practice squad.

Njoku is coming off a career year. He set a personal best in receptions (58) and averaged his most receiving yards per game (44.9) while hauling in four touchdown receptions in 2022.

“Njoku suffered burns to his face and arm, though he seemingly indicated in a tweet he plans to suit up on Sunday:

The 27-year-old has been unable to match that pace through his first three games this season. He has caught 10 passes for 92 yards amid the Browns’ 2-1 start, putting himself third on the team in both categories.

Should Njoku miss out Sunday, Jordan Akins and Harrison Bryant will move up spot up the depth chart. They’ve had little impact on the passing game so far, combining for 19 yards on four receptions.

With star quarterback Deshaun Watson already questionable because of a shoulder injury, losing another key piece to the aerial attack would be a setback for the Browns as they look to make a clear statement against one of their biggest rivals.
