JUST IN: Jacksonville Jaguars talented player agree three-year, $41.25M contract

Tight end Evan Engram, Jacksonville Jaguars agree to three-year, $41.25M contract

The Jacksonville Jaguars had previously agreed to franchise tag Evan Engram.

That arrangement has since been replaced.

On Sunday, the Jaguars agreed to a three-year, $41.25 million contract with Engram, with $24 million guaranteed.

Mike McCarney, Engram’s agent, confirmed the signing on Twitter.

Engram has committed to play the 2023 season on the franchise tag and had until Monday to reach an agreement with the Jaguars on a long-term contract.

He would have received $11.345 million in 2023 if he had not been able to reach a long-term agreement.

After five seasons in New York as a first-round pick in 2017, Engram signed a one-year, $9 million contract with the Jaguars last March.

In his debut season in Jacksonville, he finished third on the team in yards per carry.

NEWS FLASH: Jacksonville Jaguars star Receiver Arrested On Domestic Battery Charge

BREAKING: Jacksonville Jaguars Star Receiver Arrested On Domestic Battery Charge

Zay Jones, the great receiver for the Jacksonville Jaguars, was arrested on domestic assault allegations. At 6:03 p.m. Eastern time, Jones was apprehended by the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office and booked into the Duval County Jail. Domestic battery inflicting bodily harm was charged, which is a first-degree misdemeanor. This is not the first time a receiver has been arrested this season; Michael Thomas and Chris Olave of the New Orleans Saints have also been detained.

According to jail records, Jones’ first court appearance will be on Tuesday at nine in the morning. The receiver is in his second season with the Jaguars after he signed a three-year deal worth $14 million guaranteed back in 2022. In his first season with the team, he went for 823 receiving yards and five touchdowns.

The Jaguars organization put out a statement on the arrest saying, “We are aware of the situation and are in the midst of gathering information. We will have no further comment at this time.” The receiver has missed six games this season, including the last four, due to a right knee injury. He has gone for 55 receiving yards and a touchdown so far this season.

In the state of Florida, a first-degree misdemeanor is punishable by up to 180 days in jail and a $1,000 fine. Court expenses, restitution, probation, treatment, and community service may also be imposed. Full information are yet unknown and will be updated as investigators and reporters continue to dig into this issue.

Jones was picked by the Buffalo Bills in 2017 and later transferred to the Las Vegas Raiders before settling in Jacksonville. In his three seasons with the three teams, he has 2,785 receiving yards and 59 touchdowns. This is a developing story that will be updated throughout the night and week as more specific details about the case become available.
