SAD NEWS: Las Vegas Raiders Player Arrested Just 2 Days After Returning From Injured Reserve

BREAKING: Las Vegas Raiders Cut Player After DUI Arrest Just 2 Days After Being Brought Back From IR

The Las Vegas Raiders released a safety on Monday after he was arrested for DUI on Sunday morning. Veteran cornerback Marcus Peters was waived after a disagreement with head coach Antonio Pierce, and the cut was one of two secondary members.

Roderick Teamer, a cornerback, was activated to the Raiders’ 53-man roster on Saturday. He did, however, miss Sunday’s game after news surfaced that he had been arrested for DUI.

According to Vic Tafur with The Athletic, the Raiders released Teamer Monday.

Per Vincent Bonsignore with Vegas Nation, head coach Antonio Pierce said the release had to do with “off the field” behavior:

“Whatever you do off the field has an impact on the decisions that will be made in this building.” And we’ll do everything we can to safeguard the Raiders brand, shield, and organization.”

Teamer’s release or not, the Raiders brand is down badly this season.

SHOCKING NEWS: Las Vegas Raiders key player made his final decision to depart

In a shocking trade scenario, Jimmy Garoppolo was traded to the New England Patriots.

After losing his starting job to rookie quarterback Aiden O’Connell, Las Vegas Raiders quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo has emerged as a major trade candidate this offseason. Garoppolo’s tenure as a starter in the NFL has been up and down, beginning with the San Francisco 49ers before being traded to Las Vegas. Now that the Raiders appear to have lost faith in him, a familiar team to Garoppolo has emerged as the favorite to sign him this offseason.

If Garoppolo becomes available this offseason, the New England Patriots are among the favorites to trade for him. The quarterback began his career in New England, where it was expected that he would be the starter after Tom Brady retired. Instead, he was traded to the 49ers, and the Patriots were left with Mac Jones, which has not worked out well for them thus far.

New England is the worst club in the AFC Conference, with a 2-7 record and one of the worst seasons in team history. Head coach Bill Belichick appears to be skeptical of Jones and has benched him throughout the season. If they made a bid for Garoppolo, it could turn the franchise around, especially given the brand’s familiarity.

If the Patriots land a top-five pick in the 2024 NFL draft, they should choose a quarterback such as Caleb Williams, Drake Maye, Bo Nix, Michael Penix Jr., or J.J. McCarthy. Once that is done, they may sign Garoppolo to start and temporarily mentor the rookie. The experienced quarterback’s knowledge with Belichick’s scheme might be a valuable teaching tool for anyone they choose.

Since joining the league in 2014, Garoppolo has accumulated 15,494 passing yards, 94 touchdowns, and 51 interceptions. This season, he has seen a significant drop in output with Las Vegas, averaging only 1,205 passing yards, seven touchdowns, and nine interceptions. A reunion in New England for the veteran quarterback may benefit the Patriots’ franchise and possibly rekindle Garoppolo’s career as he nears the end of his NFL career.
