Sad news Minnesota Wild key player is in critical condition after collapsing in a game

Minnesota fans continue to watch Wild hockey without the team’s best player. But not for much longer.

Wild superstar Kirill Kaprizov remains out of the lineup with a lower-body injury he suffered in a March 8 contest against the Jets. However, he is expected to make is return soon.

Despite the absence of Kaprizov, the Wild remain in the thick of the division race in the Central. Minnesota is in contention to win the Central and recently clinched a spot in the postseason.

The addition of Kaprizov ahead of the postseason is big for the Wild, especially considering the recent injury to forward Joel Eriksson Ek.

What is Kirill Kaprizov’s injury?

The exact injury to Kaprizov has not been made public. The team has called it a lower-body injury.

Kaprizov collided awkwardly with Jets defenseman Logan Stanley during the Wild’s 4-2 win on March 8. Stanley went to defend Kaprizov and managed to fall on top of Kaprizov, who was in a weird position low to the ice.

Considering the size of Stanley (6-7, 228 lbs), that was a lot of weight being placed on Kaprizov.

The big Winnipeg blue liner said after the game that he wasn’t expecting Kaprizov to stop so abruptly and he lost his balance, resulting in him being on top of the winger.

“He stopped and I tried to finish my check on him,” Stanley said. “Then I just fell on top of him … I wasn’t expecting him to go down. It’s just an unfortunate play.”

When will Kirill Kaprizov return?

The Wild put out a statement on April 7 indicating Kaprizov’s return. It was then reported that Kaprizov would play in Minnesota’s game on April 8 against St. Louis.

Kaprizov skated for the first time since the injury on April 3 and has been amping up his practices in anticipation of his return to the lineup.
