CONFIRMED: Tennessee Titans are bringing him back

Titans Re-Signed Jaleel Johnson Despite Critical, Now-Deleted Posts

Jaleel Johnson, a Titans defensive tackle, had a memorable November.

Johnson appeared in Tennessee’s road losses against the Buccaneers and Jaguars on November 12 and 19, respectively. The Titans released him on November 21. Tennessee re-signed him to its active roster on Wednesday.

All of this occurred despite the fact that Johnson blasted the Titans on social media nearly immediately after his release on Nov. 21.

“They’re so worried about (trying) to fix the defense when we’re not the problem,” Johnson said in a since-deleted rant, later claiming to envy Eagles safety Kevin Byard for getting traded from Tennessee to a winning club.

If you’re surprised the Titans welcomed Johnson back after his comments, you’re not alone—Johnson expressed his surprise to reporters on Friday.

“It says a lot about coach (Mike Vrabel), that he cares about his guys,” Johnson said of Vrabel’s desire to move on from the comments. “We formed a bond. “I think he understands where I’m coming from, and I understand where he stands and what he expects from his players, and that wasn’t it.”

Over the course of his seven-year career, Johnson has played for the Vikings, Texans, Falcons, and Tennessee.

“Moving forward now, I’m off Twitter,” Johnson remarked, smiling. “I think I deleted the app, so I’m thankful to be back and to help these guys win.”
