Nebraska football: Cornhuskers 3-star target reveals major plan amid recruitment battle

Nebraska football is already looking ahead to the 2024 season after a poor 5-7 season that left them just out of bowl contention. Amare Sanders, a high school prospect, is set to declare his Top 5 probable schools on Friday, and the Cornhuskers hope to be among them.

The 6’2″ 167 cornerback is a three-star recruit out of Miami’s Gulliver Prep and is regarded as one of the finest defensive backs in the 2019 recruiting class.

Sanders has had offers from major institutions such as Virginia, Florida, Louisville, and Florida State, in addition to Nebraska football – though Nebraska is considered the favorite at this point. Nebraska coach Matt Rhule already had a significant commitment last week when four-star recruit Grant Brix chose the school.

Gulliver Prep in Miami has produced several NFL players, including former Cowboys defensive end Joe Jackson, Commanders tight end Buck Ortega, Saints defensive back Patrick Robinson, and Washington’s All-Pro safety Sean Taylor.

Andre Sanders made his high school football debut in 2022, recording 49 tackles and two interceptions in eight games as a cornerback.
