Marvin Harrison Jr. Posts Heartfelt Message To Kyle McCord After Quarterback Enters Transfer Portal

The bond between Marvin Harrison Jr. and Kyle McCord is strong. While many are aware that they were teammates at Ohio State this season, few are aware that they were previously teammates in high school at St. Joseph’s Prep School in Philadelphia. Harrison Jr. shared a brief but poignant statement on social media after McCord declared his decision to use the transfer site.

Marvin Harrison Jr., an Ohio State wide receiver, responds to Kyle McCord entering the Transfer Portal:

Kyle McCord Enters the Transfer Portal, and Marvin Harrison Jr. Reacts
Harrison Jr.’s message was straightforward. He wrote the number six, then an infinity symbol and a heart emoji. These two have been through so much on the football field together, and Harrison Jr. realizes that they will always have a bond. While many criticized McCord, Harrison Jr. had a fantastic year with him at quarterback. He grabbed 67 passes for 1,211 yards and 14 touchdowns, averaging 18.1 yards per catch, a career high. If he declares, he is expected to be one of the top picks in the NFL Draft.

Exodus from Ohio State University
Right now, the Ohio State football program is losing talent. In the last 24 hours, a running back, three secondary players, and McCord have all stated their intention to use the transfer portal. it of this is due to the nature of collegiate football today, but I’m sure it is due to the program. For the third year in a row, the Buckeyes were eliminated from the College Football Playoff. Players may be seeking for a program that will provide them more national exposure and thus better NIL prospects.

Does McCord’s departure make Harrison Jr. more likely to leave? Maybe, but Ohio State has bigger issues right now than whether Harrison Jr. stays or goes. Ryan Day has a lot of work to do this offseason.
