DONE DEAL: Lions beat Steelers and Jaguars in hot battle race to sign $90M Contract just now

The Detroit Lions have added another veteran defensive lineman to their practice squad.

The Lions signed former Jacksonville Jaguars and Pittsburgh Steelers defensive tackle Tyson Alualu on Tuesday, Alualu’s agent, Kenny Zuckerman, announced on X.

Alualu was a first-round pick by the Jaguars in 2010, played seven seasons with the Jaguars and six more with the Steelers, making two starts and appearing in all 17 games last season. He’s listed at 6 feet 3 and 304 pounds.

Alualu, 36, is the third veteran lineman the Lions have added to their practice squad in recent weeks. They signed pass rusher Bruce Irvin and offensive lineman Michael Schofield in mid-November. Irvin, also 36, had a sack in his Lions debut Sunday against the New Orleans Saints.

The Lions also have veteran nose tackle Quinton Bohanna on their practice squad, but Bohanna is expected to sign to the 53-man roster this week after playing in the past three games. He has six tackles, including two for loss, and is out of practice squad elevations.

Alualu gives the Lions more depth in the trenches, where they’ve played a revolving door of defensive tackles this season and have struggled to generate consistent pass rush.
