A very sad news Sooner two key player ruled out till Dec 18 due to

Three starters for the Oklahoma Sooners were injured during Saturday’s game. Brent Venables provided an update on each of the players on Monday night.

The good news is that Venables stated Gentry Williams is ready to go. McKade Mettauer, who was carted off the field after a scary injury, will be back “sooner rather than later,” according to Venables.

However, the Sooners received some bad news. Oklahoma’s leading receiver, Andrel Anthony, will be out for the rest of the season. At the end of the third quarter, Anthony went down with what appeared to be a noncontact knee injury.

He’s been a huge contributor for the Sooners in his first year in crimson and cream. From the first game, it appeared that he and Dillon Gabriel had formed a special bond. He’s been the Sooners’ most consistent deep threat.

Anthony has 27 receptions for 429 yards and one touchdown this season. The depth of the Sooners will have to rise to the occasion.Nic Anderson took Anthony’s place during the game and caught the game-winning touchdown pass.

He’s the most likely candidate to take his starting spot. Anderson has six touchdowns this season to lead the Sooners.

There may also be a healthy dose of Jayden Gibson. Brenen Thompson, who we saw against the Iowa State Cyclones but didn’t see last week, could be a deep threat.

Anthony is only a junior, so he will most likely return next season, but it’s a tough blow for a player who is having a career year for Oklahoma. It is now up to his teammates to compensate for his loss of production.
