Report: Wild coach an unexpected injury news about key player

Bad news for the Minnesota Wild as insider Michael Russo is reporting that he’s “hearing” defenseman Jonas Brodin “is going to miss significant time” after suffering an upper-body injury in Minnesota’s 4-3 loss to Edmonton.

Brodin suffered the injury in the third period when Evander Kane slammed him into the end boards, with Brodin crumbling to the ice and then skating off gingerly.

“You never want to see anybody get hit like that,” Wild head coach John Hynes said after the game. “It’s not my job to comment on the hit. That’s the referee’s job. It’s an unfortunate situation and it was tough to lose [Brodin] at that point.”
