Breaking news: Sooner Working To Land $78 Million ‘Dominant’ Run-Stopper

National Signing Day is quickly approaching, and the Sooners have kept their promise to recruit more in-state players. Brent Venables and his team have attracted a large number of top Oklahoma talent.

We just looked at who will be on scholarship after signing with the Sooners. (You can read about it here.)

Let’s take a look at the in-state recruits who will sign on the dotted line on Wednesday.

Andy Bass, ATH, Heritage Hall

The three-star put together one of the best seasons in the state this year. Bass nearly led Heritage Hall to an undefeated season and back-to-back state championships, but an injury sidelined him halfway through the championship game. Bass’ recruitment took off this summer as he dazzled coaches with his stellar physique and outstanding speed. Though he played quarterback in high school, he’ll line up as a running back and slot receiver when he joins the college ranks. His walk-on deal is a bit unique, as his NIL deals will pay for his college tuition. Either way, the Sooners are getting a great athlete and he’ll look to show that when he heals. Bass will sign early but said he’ll have an official signing ceremony in the spring when Heritage Hall does it for all of its sports.

Dax Noles, S, Norman

His father played baseball at OU, and Noles announced he was going to play for the Sooners in September as well. The 6-foot, 185-pound athlete is expected to play safety and defensive back for the Sooners. After helping Norman break a decade-long playoff-win drought and recording over 150 tackles in his senior season, Noles will join the Sooners after his final high school baseball season. Noles was named the Central Oklahoma Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Year. Noles will not sign until the official National Signing Day in February.

Liam Evans, K, Moore

This season, Evans, who is ranked as the seventh-best kicker in the nation by Kohl’s kicking, went 7-of-8 on his field goal kicks. His longest was a 51-yarder, which broke the Moore school record. He made it from that distance twice this season, once against Edmond North and another time against Bixby. His lone miss was from 46 yards out in the last game of the season. Evans will enroll early and get on campus in January. Evans was awarded the Central Oklahoma Athletic Conference special teams Player of the Year and was the District special teams Player of the Year to go along with his 6A-I All-District Team nod. He held his singing ceremony earlier this week.

Bergin Kysar, DE, Edmond Santa Fe

Kysar had Power 5 offers from other schools, such as Oklahoma State, but he decided to walk on to the Sooners. Kysar grew up playing quarterback and even started his high school career at the position. He was a backup quarterback on Edmond Santa Fe’s state runner-up team in his freshman season in 2020. Then, he moved to the defensive line and became a force. This season, he was named the Central Oklahoma Athletic Conference Defensive Lineman of the Year. He’ll sign on Wednesday at Edmond Santa Fe.
