Texas Longhorns have offer him a $4.5 million contract… and something money can’t buy

The Texas Longhorns are close to wrapping up National Signing Day, but two targets still remain. The Longhorns have been making a push for four-star linebacker TyAnthony Smith, and they’ve been trending on the 247Sports Crystal Ball for the Texas A&M commit out of Jasper (Texas). Smith has been looking around since Jimbo Fisher was dismissed at Texas A&M, and he made a visit to Austin over the weekend.

After speaking with multiple sources around lunchtime on National Signing Day, it sounds like the Longhorns are close to completing the flip. Confidence in Austin remains high with Smith set to announce his decision at 6:30 p.m. central time. Smith would be the only true off-ball linebacker to take to date for the Longhorns who signed one of the top classes at the position last year. Texas A&M has been trying to hold on to his commitment since Mike Elko took over, but the latest intel still favors the Longhorns when it comes to decision time.
