Leeds compartmentalizing after news of his impending departure

ChampionshipMeslier fans hit out at Preston North End star Milutin Osmajić after he appeared to get Leeds United goalkeeper Illan Meslier sent off.

Preston moved within one point of the play-off places by securing a surprise 2-1 home victory over Daniel Farke’s side. However, their victory has been somewhat tainted by the amateur dramatic skills of Osmajic.

The Montenegro forward was batted away by Meslier after he confronted the young shot-stopper, who had petulantly swiped his arm out at Ben Whiteman. However, after Meslier, 23, swatted Osmajic away from him, the 24-year-old forward thew himself to the ground and rolled around the floor. When Meslier was given a red card at Deepdale, fans came out in their numbers to slam the Preston striker.

“More rolls than Greggs,” wrote on social media. A second added: “Over-reaction of the year award goes to the Preston player.”

A third then tweeted: “Imagine rolling around after just being shoved in the face? Absolutely embarrassing,” before a fourth said: “This is football now, game of who can con the referee.”

A particularly furious fifth supporter also commented: “Imagine showing your kids that a goalkeeper waved his hand towards your face and you went down like Tyson Fury just landed a right hand on your chin.”

Four minutes after Meslier was dismissed, Alan Browne put Ryan Lowes’s side into the lead in the 57th minute. Leeds thought they had battled their way to a hard fought draw when Pascal Struijk slotted home a penalty in the 83rd minute.
