CONFIRMED: 49ers are bringing him back

The 49ers’ running back is expected to sign with the Ravens soon.

Tyrion Davis-Price of the San Francisco 49ers may have seen his next destination on Christmas Eve.

The Baltimore Ravens, who defeated the San Francisco 49ers 33-19 on Monday, require running back depth, and Bleacher Report identified Davis-Price as a candidate. He has six carries for 21 yards this season for the 49ers in limited action.

“The season-ending injury to Keaton Mitchell last week was a disappointing development for the Ravens offense,” the crew of Bleacher Report stated. “They called up Melvin Gordon III from the practice squad, but the veteran lacks Mitchell’s juice.” Finding a younger running back on another practice squad could be an option.”

“At 211 pounds, Tyrion Davis-Price ran a 4.48 40-yard dash in the combine.” He’s only appeared in seven games since being picked in the third round by the Niners, but he’d be worth a look on the active roster if the Ravens need to add a back before the postseason,” Bleacher Report’s staff added.

Davis-Price has 120 yards on 40 attempts in seven games with the 49ers. San Francisco also used him on special teams in 2022, with 23 snap counts, but he hasn’t played a special teams snap this season.

Davis-Price was removed from the 49ers’ practice squad once in the last month to make place for safety Logan Ryan. However, a few days after Ryan’s signing, San Francisco signed Davis-Price back to the practice squad.

If the Niners lose Davis-Price to the Ravens, it would be a blow to the team’s running back depth, especially considering third-stringer Jordan Mason has been sick this week. Davis-Price was originally selected by the 49ers with the 93rd pick in the 2022 draft out of LSU.
