OKLAHOMA SOONERS
The University of Oklahoma Board of Regents will meet in Oklahoma City on Friday, with football contracts on the agenda.

First and foremost, the OU regents will “review compensation” and consider head coach Brent Venables’ hiring of Seth Littrell as the Sooners’ offensive coordinator, which is effective immediately. Littrell previously worked as an offensive analyst after the former Sooner fullback was fired as North Texas’ head coach.

The Sooners’ assistant coaches can all expect big raises after the team improved from 6-7 last year to 10-2 this season. Oklahoma football bowl game: Sooners will play Arizona in Alamo Bowl

Co-offensive coordinator Joe Jon Finley, who added the title to his title of tight ends coach, can also expect a salary increase.

The agenda for Wednesday night includes contact information and compensation for assistant coaches Todd Bates, Bill Bedenbaugh, Miguel Chavis, Brandon Hall, Emmett Jones, DeMarco Murray, and Jay Valai, as well as strength coach Jerry Schmidt, the team’s director of sports enhancement and strength and conditioning.

The contract of defensive coordinator Ted Roof, which expires in 2025, will not be renewed. OU is expected to announce the hiring of Zac Alley as defensive coordinator soon, though the contract will be reviewed at the next regularly scheduled regents meeting.

New track coach James Thomas is under “consideration of employment, compensation, and contract of employment,” and assistant baseball coach Todd Butler’s contract and salary will also be reviewed.
