2024 NRL Signings Tracker: Faitala-Mariner joins Eels after Bulldogs release

Raymond Faitala-Mariner, a former Kiwi international who was released from the Bulldogs immediately, has signed a contract with the Dragons.

In order for Faitala-Mariner to take advantage of the opportunity with the Dragons, who have signed him for the 2024 and 2025 seasons, Canterbury-Bankstown agreed to grant him a release.

The 30-year-old, who has played in four Test matches for Toa Samoa and New Zealand, and 114 games of first-grade experience over ten seasons, joins the Red V with immediate effect.

Phil Gould, general manager of the Bulldogs football team, also confirmed that rookie Zac Montgomery, who was included in the top 30 roster for 2024, asked for and received an immediate release from his contract at the end of the previous season.

It happens after the Dragons signed playmaker Jesse Marschke for the 2024 campaign, bolstering their depth in the halves.

The Wests Tigers released winger David Nofoaluma from the last two years of his contract in another move.

The 30-year-old’s contract was terminated by mutual agreement, as confirmed by a statement released by the Tigers.

Nofoaluma joined the Wests Tigers in 2013 and went on to play 192 games while scoring 100 tries in his NRL career.

Tyson Smoothy, a hooker for the Broncos, has extended his contract with the team by one year, meaning he will remain in Brisbane until at least the end of 2025.

The 24-year-old was scheduled to have his contract terminated at the end of the season after making 13 appearances for Kevin Walters’ team.
