Alabama coach suspended senior forward due to

TUSCALOOSA, Alabama — Alabama’s basketball team was without senior forward Nick Pringle for Wednesday night’s game against Georgia. He did not travel to Athens because he was serving a suspension for “conduct detrimental to the team.”

During Alabama’s Friday press conference prior to Saturday’s game against Mississippi State, head coach Nate Oats provided an update on Pringle’s status with the team.

“He’s still not with the team,” Oats said. “He is being evaluated on a daily basis. We’ll see how long it takes before he returns at some point.”

This is Pringle’s second suspension this season. The first happened during the Crimson Tide’s game against Arkansas State on December 4 and lasted only one game. Pringle played in Alabama’s next game against Purdue.

During Oats’ postgame press conference following the Georgia game on Wednesday, he explained the reasoning behind Pringle’s second suspension.

“He’s got to decide whether he wants to be a part of this program or not, with some of his decisions, how he conducts himself,” he said. “Nothing bad off the court or anything like that, just in practice, in games, we’ll see where he goes when we get back.”

Pringle has started 11 of Alabama’s 19 games this season, averaging 5.2 points and 4.1 rebounds in 15.7 minutes.

Pringle’s best game of the 2024 season so far was a 15-point, 7-rebound effort on the road against Creighton on December 16.
