The titans coach brian happy to work with

Tennessee’s Nashville Before arriving in Nashville, new Tennessee Titans coach Brian Callahan faced a number of obstacles. One of the top concerns is how well Callahan aids in the development of quarterback Will Levis, who is in his second year.

Levis’s development will come after a season in which he finished with 1,808 passing yards, eight touchdowns, and four interceptions in nine games against the Atlanta Falcons in Week 8 of last season, making him just the third rookie to do so in his debut.

In his press conference, Callahan expressed his excitement about working with him. “He’s got a lot of really special physical talents that I’m excited to go see if we can make better.”

Brian Callahan Scores at Titans' Introduction

Over the course of his 13-year career, Callahan has worked with four quarterbacks, each of whom has had a season with 4,000 yards of passing. He has held positions as an offensive assistant, quarterbacks coach, and offensive coordinator.

When Callahan arrived in the Cincinnati Bengals in 2019, veterans like Derek Carr, Peyton Manning, and Matthew Stafford helped him get ready for the chance to work with 2020 No. 1 overall pick Joe Burrow and the team. Following a 4-11-1 season the year before, Burrow led the Bengals to the Super Bowl in his second season. Interestingly, in the divisional round of the playoffs that season, Callahan and the Bengals defeated the Titans, the top-seeded team in the AFC.

“We were aware of Callahan’s history and vast experience,” Titans controlling owner Amy Adams Strunk stated. “We saw the list of quarterbacks he’s worked with and elite offenses he’s been a part of.”

Now that Tennessee has missed the playoffs the last two seasons due to a 13-21 record, Callahan must return the team to the playoff level to which the fan base had recently become accustomed. Callahan is adamant that in the modern NFL, the passing game is where change begins.

Callahan continued by describing how the Bengals selected wide receivers Tee Higgins (33rd overall in 2020) and Ja’Marr Chase (No. 5 overall in 2021) with high draft selections in order to provide Burrow with the playmakers he needed to drive the offense. They understand they must concentrate on the offensive line to protect Levis and enable the offense, even though they stand to gain from surrounding their young quarterback with talent such as the Bengals.
