The Georgia Bulldogs have confirmed the transfer of a linebacker.

Every Georgia player who played under Kirby Smart’s supervision could attest to his usage of the loudspeaker during practices. The loudspeaker might be used as a headhunter to encourage all players to improve and not slack off during practice. Every player, from first-round picks to the water crew, gets their time on the loudspeaker. Brock Bowers, the two-time John Mackey Award winner, is one person you wouldn’t expect to get that time.

Bowers recently appeared on NBC with Mike Florio and Chris Simms, sharing his story over the loudspeaker on Smart. The query about Smart’s sense of humor, whether you can joke around with him, and whether or not he’s a tough coach led to the response. “Depending on the situation, sometimes you kind of want to stray away from that,” Bowers said. You don’t want to be in his line of sight when he’s yelling at someone at practice because he’ll jump on you.

Next, they inquired about Bowers’ worst experience of having the Nick Saban disciple jump his case. “It was probably during my first year. He just jumped in me hard on the loud mic over the loudspeakers throughout the entire indoor arena as we were going over this one coverage, which I missed during the game, and we were going over corrections, which I missed again. It’s amusing to think back on it now.”

The loudspeaker that Smart uses in practice is well known to those who are familiar with the Georgia program and how practices are conducted. You can even see the practice field’s loudspeakers while strolling around Stegman Collesium, but you never would have guessed that Bowers would be hearing his name called over them. The loudspeaker will locate you in either case.
