The Michigan Wolverines hope to continue their Big Ten dominance in 2024. They will have to do it without many of their coaching staff from last season. Jim Harbaugh left for the NFL, taking many coordinators with him. The position of linebacker coach has been open for quite some time. Chris Partridge was fired in November and was never replaced. Sherrone Moore, the new head coach, has hired Brian Jean-Mary, the former Tennessee Volunteers coach, as the next linebackers coach.

Jean-Mary will coach the linebackers and coordinate the defensive run game. This will be his second stint in Ann Arbor. He was on the team in 2020, during the COVID-19 pandemic season. Jean-Mary left to coach in Knoxville and has remained there ever since. He is a master recruiter. Jean-Mary recruited both Junior Colson and Jaydon Hood. He is familiar with the southern part of the country, having grown up in Florida.
Don’t Count Michigan Out
While Michigan is losing many of its key players, I would not write this team off. Sherrone Moore has assembled a talented staff, and few players have changed their minds about the program. In fact, momentum on the recruitment trail appears to be fine. Bringing in Jean-Mary will be extremely beneficial on the trail. He has proven his ability to attract top-tier talent and will most likely do so again.
The Michigan Wolverines hope to be counted out in 2024. They would be happy to surprise people and demonstrate that it wasn’t just Harbaugh who drove the team’s success.
