He agree to join Eels on a two-year contract $120m

The Newcastle Knights have joined the hunt for Josh Addo-Carr, following reports that the Bulldogs winger has caught the attention of Parramatta.

On Wednesday, this masthead reported that Addo-Carr could make a surprise move from Canterbury to arch-rivals the Eels if he is released from his contract.

Newcastle has also expressed interest in the NSW and Australian representative as a replacement for Sydney Roosters’ Dominic Young. Both the Wests Tigers and the Dragons are keeping an eye on the situation.

The Eels and Knights have both expressed interest in speaking with the star winger, but only if Canterbury agrees to an immediate transfer.

A swap of Eels forward Ryan Matterson for Addo-Carr has been discussed, but it is unlikely to happen. Canterbury hasn’t ruled out a player exchange, but their priority is to sign a front-rower rather than a back-rower. To complete the deal, Parramatta would need to release a player.

The Bulldogs have previously expressed interest in the Saifiti brothers, but Newcastle will not consider a swap deal for either of their middle enforcers.

Daniel Saifiti is signed until the end of 2026 on a contract worth approximately $900,000 per season. Jacob, who is currently on his honeymoon in the Maldives, is set to become a free agent on November 1, but he is considering a lucrative contract extension with the Knights.

Addo-Carr is on the outs with some Bulldogs officials, despite a recent open meeting with football general manager Phil Gould. The premiership-winning winger has a contract until the end of 2025, but he could leave sooner if the club benefits from the move. The Eels, Knights, and Bulldogs each declined to comment.
