AP/EAST RUTHERFORD, NEW JERSEY Damar Hamlin will miss his first regular-season game since suffering a heart attack on Monday night when the Bills take on the New York Jets. Hamlin was listed as one of Buffalo’s inactives.

When the teams announced who would be out of the game approximately ninety minutes before kickoff, the Bills officially made their decision.

This summer, Hamlin, a safety who required on-field resuscitation in Cincinnati in January, participated in three exhibition games. Many questioned if he would be able to return to the field, but he was added to the Bills squad as a backup.

Listed as the fourth safety on Buffalo’s depth chart, Hamlin is expected to be limited to mostly special teams roles barring injuries to starters Jordan Poyer or Micah Hyde.
