Johnson, a graduate of the University of Alabama, was appointed on Friday as the defensive ends coach for the Mountain West Conference football team at the University of Nevada.

Johnson worked as a graduate assistant with defensive linemen for the last two years (2022–2023) at the University of Texas, under the coaching staff of Steve Sarkisian. He helped the Longhorns win the Big 12 Championship and earn a spot in the College Football Playoffs the previous year. Johnson helped the ‘Horns defeat Alabama as well.

As a linebacker for the Tide, the 33-year-old won three BCS National

Championships under Nick Saban.

Between 2009 and 2012, he competed and won two Southeastern Conference titles.

Johnson, an Andalusia, Alabama native, spent his brief professional career playing for four clubs in the National Football League: the Kansas City Chiefs, Cincinnati Bengals, Washington Redskins, and New York Giants
