CBS Philadelphia, PA The Philadelphia Phillies needed something to get fans excited again for their second game of the 2024 season after losing on Opening Day and having to postpone their game on Saturday due to rain. And with the assistance of two cherished former Eagles, Jason Kelce and Fletcher Cox, the team accomplished all of that and more.

On Saturday afternoon, X, the Philadelphia Phillies released pictures of the former Eagles wearing different jerseys than their fans are accustomed to seeing.

More than just raising spirits among supporters, the Eagles’ appearance at Citizens Bank Park demonstrated that even elite athletes could experience stardom. After that, the team released additional images, this one of Kelce signing first baseman Bryce Harper’s cleats prior to the game.

“I’m throwing out a pitch, me and Fletcher Cox,” said Kelce. “We’ll observe the outcome. I believe Fletcher will have to do it since my elbow is no longer functional.”

A recent episode of the former center’s “New Heights” podcast, which he cohosts with his brother Travis Kelce, the tight end for the Kansas City Chiefs, revealed the details of Kelce and Cox’s ceremonial first pitch.

In early March, friends and former teammates Kelce and Cox each announced their retirement within a week of one another. During a tearful press conference, Kelce announced his retirement and thanked his teammates, family, and a number of other individuals who had a significant impact on his football career.
