News Now: Miami Marlins want to even the series against the New York Yankees.

Well, the Miami Marlins are back to business as usual.

Miami was blanked by the New York Yankees in the first game of their series, only one day after earning their first win of the season in a blowout victory against the St. Louis Cardinals.

Today’s game pits the Marlins’ A.J. Puk against Carlos Rodón, both of whom are lefties.

Lineups for the Miami Marlins and New York Yankees on Tuesday, April 9th

Here’s how the Marlins will line up for the contest:

2B Luis Arraez
LF Bryan De La Cruz
DH Jake Burger
1B Josh Bell
CF Jazz Chisholm Jr.
SS Tim Anderson
RF Avisaíl García
3B Emmanuel Rivera
C Christian Bethancourt

Puk hopes to rebound after two dismal outings to start the season, in which he threw only six innings and allowed eight runs (six earned) on six hits and nine walks. He’s faced the majority of the Yankees’ batters at least once, with just first baseman Anthony Rizzo (1-1) recording a hit in a tiny sample, but all of those came as a reliever with better’stuff’.

Here’s how the Yankees will line up for the series opener:

2B Gleyber Torres
RF Juan Soto
CF Aaron Judge
DH Giancarlo Stanton
1B Anthony Rizzo
SS Anthony Volpe
LF Alex Verdugo
3B Jon Berti
C Austin Wells

Rodón hopes to put his injury-plagued 2023 season behind him and bolster the Yankees rotation while reigning Cy Young winner Gerrit Cole (elbow) remains on the injured list. He’s mostly done that, too, allowing only three runs in his first twelve innings of the season, albeit with five walks and seven strikeouts. The Marlins have very little experience against Rodón, with Josh Bell going 1-1 with an RBI and Luis Arraez going 1-3.
