GOOD NEWS: Star Agrees to Continue His Contract With the Celtics

Jrue Holiday is not going anywhere. The 15-year NBA veteran and the Boston Celtics reached an agreement on a four-year, $135 million deal extension on Wednesday night, according to ESPN source Adrian Wojnarowski. In order to accept his new agreement, Holiday will be foregoing his $37 million player option for the 2024–25 season.

Holiday’s new contract will keep him playing for the Celtics until the 2027–2028 season, when he turns 37.

Holiday was acquired by the Boston Celtics in a sensational off-season trade with the Portland Trail Blazers in return for Malcolm Brogdon, Robert Williams III, and two additional first-round picks. Holiday had told Brian Robb of MassLive in January that he wanted to stay in Boston:

In his debut season with the Boston Celtics, the 17th overall pick in 2009 out of UCLA, averages 12.5 points, 5.4 rebounds, and 4.9 assists per game in 68 games.
