JUST NOW: The first two rounds of the Dallas Cowboys seven-round mock draft address important needs.

We are officially less than two weeks from the start of the 2024 NFL Draft. After a very quiet offseason, the Dallas Cowboys have plenty of work to do to upgrade their roster in this year’s draft.

Today, we take a shot at predicting how things could play out, giving you a seven-round Cowboys mock draft.

Analysis: At pick 24, Graham Barton and Jackson Powers-Johnson are still available, so this is a huge break right away. Both players could step in and take the field right away at center, providing the offensive line with a much-needed middle upgrade. The Baltimore Ravens were willing to trade for the pick because they wanted to move up in the draft to get a wide receiver. It would be interesting to shift back and add picks 93 or 113 from Baltimore, but the board performed too well to abandon the position. It’s only a matter of choosing which starting center to chose at this point. Despite the fact that both players are excellent, Powers-Johnson will win out. Last season, the 21-year-old was the best center in the country, winning

Analysis: After addressing the offensive line in round one, we enter the second round with the ability to go in a multitude of different directions. Texas running back Jonathan Brooks is still on the board, and boy would he be an amazing addition to the Cowboys’ offense. If healthy, Brooks has first-round talent, and it could be a steal to snag him this late in the second round. While Brooks would be a perfect fit in Dallas’ offense, we’re going to address the defensive side of the ball with this pick. Just like in the first round, we have a pair of quality players in a position of need still on the board. Talented linebackers Edgerrin Cooper and Junior Colson shockingly make it to pick 56. It’s a tough choice, but we are going to go with the local product and select Cooper out of Texas A&M. The 6’2, 230 lb linebacker plays with an intensity not many can match. He’s a big hitter who will provide some attitude to our defense and should mesh perfectly with new defensive coordinator Mike Zimmer.

Analysis: After addressing one of our biggest needs on each side of the ball in the first two rounds, we have the ability to get a little bit creative the rest of the way. When our third-round pick comes around, two running backs, Trey Benson out of Flordia State and Blake Corum out of Michigan, are still there for the taking. While either player would be a welcome addition to the offense, we aren’t thrilled with the idea of selecting a running back with a top-100 pick. This running back class is deep, and we should be able to find a player with one of our later picks. That being said, with no one else catching our eye we look to the phones as we attempt to move down and acquire an extra pick. The Los Angeles Chargers, who have two picks in the fourth round, make us an offer. Los Angeles gives us both of their fourth-round picks, to move up 18 spots and reunite Blake Corum with his college head coach, Jim Harbaugh.
