Analyst Thinks Steelers Shouldn’t Hesitate to Draft SEC Star if He’s Available
With less than a week until the big event, the Pittsburgh Steelers’ path through the first round of this year’s NFL Draft appears to be rather clear.
Before addressing some of the other places that could require reinforcements, they are anticipated to address their pressing offensive line issues.
According to Steve Palazzolo of PFF, there may be a circumstance in which the Steelers ought to take a completely different course.
Palozzolo declared that he would “sprint to the podium” if Brock Bowers was available for the Steelers during an April 18 appearance on 93.7 The Fan.
Together with Pat Freiermuth and Darnell Washington, you make it work. All you have to do is make it work. Additionally, I believe Buffalo’s handling of Dalton Kincaid and the tight end name and label are comparable. “Hey, he’s our slot receiver,” they said. They gave him the ball. Compared to Kincaid, Bowers is a stronger prospect since he is a playmaker and an incredible weapon. Anywhere around position fifteen or later in this draft, I would run to the podium to make that move.”
One of the Greatest Tight End Prospects Ever: Bowers is regarded as one of the top tight end prospects the NFL has ever seen going into the current draft.
From the beginning of his undergraduate career, he was tremendously talented.
With 56 catches for 882 yards and 13 touchdowns as a rookie, Bowers topped all Bulldogs in catches, yards, and touchdowns.
He did so with a Georgia team that had Jermaine Burton, Ladd McConkey, and Adonai Mitchell as their other pass catchers and went on to win the national championship.
As a sophomore, Bowers excelled even more. He caught 63 passes for 942 yards and 7 touchdowns in 2022. He also added three running touchdowns and 109 yards on nine carries.
Injury did somewhat impede his junior season. Following ankle surgery, he missed a few games. In ten games, he managed to make 56 receptions for 714 yards and six touchdowns.
Due to an injury, Bowers was unable to participate in the NFL Combine following his draft declaration. On his pro day, he did, however, run the 40-yard dash in 4.53 seconds.
Bowers’ size and speed combo of 6’4″ and 243 pounds will make him a problem for opposition defenders, regardless of whether they decide to cover him with a corner, safety, or linebacker.
As of right now, it’s expected that the Jets will select him with the tenth choice in the draft. According to DraftKings Sportsbook, he is the favorite to be selected 10th at +150, making it a popular choice in mock drafts.
In the Steelers’ new offensive scheme, Bowers would be a better option than Freiermuth at a position that might become much more crucial. Arthur Smith, the offensive coordinator, like throwing to his tight ends.
In 2024, he might not mind running out of two-tight end formations with Bowers and Freiermuth because he enjoys rushing the ball as well.
In addition, Bowers would give the Steelers something they cannot acquire at wide receiver. Bowers is a really promising player. The Steelers won’t select any receiver until after the top prospects have all been selected.
The Jets are not the only team selecting ahead of the Steelers that are interested in Bowers, so it is quite doubtful that the tight end will make it to the 20-man cut. Still, Pittsburgh should take Bowers very seriously if he is still available when they select in the first round.
