SAD NEWS: Warriors game postponed after coach hospitalized with ‘serious health issue’

Dejan Milojevic, the assistant coach for the Golden State Warriors, was hospitalized on today due to a “sudden and serious health issue.”

According to ESPN, the 46-year-old needed medical attention after becoming ill at a Salt Lake City restaurant while he was with the squad.

When the event happened, Milojevic had been traveling with the Warriors to Utah for their next game and was having dinner with the other coaches and players.

The Warriors’ game against the Utah Jazz, which was initially slated to take place on Wednesday, has since been postponed by the NBA.

A “medical emergency in the Warriors family” forced them to reschedule the game for a later date, the team stated in a statement.

In a message on its social media account on X, then known as Twitter, the Warriors pledged to offer an update on Milojevic’s status as soon “as appropriate”.

The background impact of Dejan Milojevic
When Golden State defeated Boston in the NBA Finals in 2022, Milojevic, who had joined the Warriors coaching staff in 2021, was able to add a championship title to his collection of trophies.

Throughout his playing career, Milojevic represented Serbia, Spain, Montenegro, and Turkey. From 2004 to 2006, he was named the Most Valuable Player of the Adriatic League three times.

He made the decision to become a coach in 2012 after deciding to retire playing basketball. Before relocating to the US, he spent eight seasons as the head coach of KK Mega Basket in Serbia.

With an 18-22 record this season, the California-based team hasn’t exactly had the ideal season and has emerged as one of the NBA’s biggest underachievers.

They were supposed to play the Dallas Mavericks on Saturday after their game against the Jazz was postponed, but it’s unclear if they’ll play in light of the latest developments regarding Milojevic’s health.
