News Now: The Titans bolster their wide receiving group by adding Tyler Boyd, according to an AP source.

Nashville, Tennessee (AP) The Tennessee Titans have bolstered their wide receiver group by reconnecting first-year coach Brian Callahan with Tyler Boyd, according to a source familiar with the situation.

Tennessee agreed to a one-year contract worth up to $4.5 million on Tuesday, according to a person who spoke with the Associated Press on the condition of anonymity because the agreement had not yet been publicized.

When contacted about the agreement, the Titans declined to comment. Boyd posted “Titan up” on social media Tuesday afternoon.

The contract was initially reported by ESPN.com.

Boyd, 29, spent his first eight NFL seasons in Cincinnati, including the last five as the Bengals’ offensive coordinator under Callahan. Boyd visited Tennessee last week but left without reaching an agreement.

Boyd, the 55th overall choice in the 2016 draft out of Pittsburgh, has started 77 of his 120 games, catching 513 passes for 6,000 yards and 31 touchdowns. Last season, Boyd recorded 67 catches for 667 yards and two touchdowns, ranking him second only to DeAndre Hopkins in Tennessee.

The Titans also signed Calvin Ridley in March to give competition to a receivers group that includes Treylon Burks, the 18th overall pick in 2022, who has only one touchdown reception after two seasons of injury.

Tight end Chig Okonkwo finished second for Tennessee with 54 receptions for 528 yards.

Adding Boyd provides Callahan another option as he revamps an offense that finished 29th in the NFL, averaging only 180.4 yards per game.
