NEWS NOW: Agent for Najee Harris responds to news regarding contract demand

Najee Harris, a running back for the Pittsburgh Steelers, had his agent respond angrily to a recent report on the running back’s contract demands and level of satisfaction with the team.\

93.7 Paul Zeise, host of the Fan radio show, reportedly stated that Harris requested the Steelers to reject his fifth-year option, stating his wish to play elsewhere. Zeise went on to say that his source was the same one that accurately projected the Steelers to acquire quarterback Justin Fields through trade.

Doug Hendrickson, Harris’s representative, felt prompted to respond after reading the claim sufficiently. Hendrickson criticized Zeise on X, telling him that his purported source was a “joke” and advising him to “find a real source” going forward.

It’s possible that Harris never made this request, and even if he had, it would have been strange for the Steelers to comply. They might have made the unexpected choice to decline Harris’ proposition for a variety of reasons. Even if it isn’t, it isn’t in Harris’ best interests for people to take this kind of report seriously.

Harris continued to be effective in 2024, completing 255 passes for 1,035 yards and eight touchdowns. But Jaylen Warren has taken some of his jobs, so he might see himself with more opportunities elsewhere. He might get the chance following the 2024 campaign.
