News Now: Draymond Green had a strong response to the point guard controversy.

Jalen Brunson leads the NBA playoffs in points per game (35.6), assists (8.1), and minutes (45.7), and his outstanding performance has put the Knicks just two wins away from their first Conference Finals appearance since 1999-2000.

The Villanova alum’s heroics have led some to call him the finest active point guard in the NBA, especially with Stephen Curry and Damian Lillard’s seasons ending early. However, Draymond Green believes that anyone who prefers Brunson to his teammate is a prisoner of the moment.

“F— no,” Green stated in answer to a mailbag query on the podcast “The Draymond Green Show”. “Steph Curry is in the NBA. Dude, are you crazy? What? Come on, no. That is ludicrous. Steph Curry is still in the NBA, and he is still terrific. Come on. “Stop it, what?”

Green went a step farther, mentioning Mavericks star Luka Doncic, who is also labeled as a point guard.

This is not the first time Green has disregarded Brunson. Throughout the playoffs, Green has argued that Brunson is too “ball-dominant” to lead the Knicks to their first championship since 1973.

Green received a lot of criticism from New York fans for predicting the Sixers to beat the Knicks in the first round, a prediction he botched partly due to Brunson’s excellent play.

Brunson is used to detractors dismissing him. This is why, despite leading Villanova to two NCAA championships, he was drafted in the second round of the 2018 NBA Draft.

Prior to the selection, many commentators and draft experts predicted Brunson to be a “backup” role player in the NBA, citing his diminutive physique and lack of agility. All Brunson can do is continuously proving his critics incorrect.
