Terrible Towel Tales: Roman Wilson feels at home in Pittsburgh

“I love it out here,” Wilson said. “This feels normal to me. It feels like home.”

Asked what made him feel that way, Wilson mentioned coach Mike Tomlin, offensive coordinator Arthur Smith and wide receiver coach Zach Azzani. Smith and Azzani, like Wilson, are entering their first season with the Steelers.

“It just makes me feel like family, makes me feel comfortable,” said Wilson, who an hour later signed his four-year rookie contract. “They coach me really hard, and I just feel like I’m getting better already.”

The Pittsburgh Steelers are heading into the 2024 season with Najee Harris and Jaylen Warren leading the way at running back. Cordarrelle Patterson is set to man the third string role, but there could be an opening for another running on the roster.

Right now, Jonathan Ward is the name the watch. The former Arizona Cardinals and Tennessee Titans running back was invited to camp on a tryout basis, looking to earn a spot on the 90-man roster for the summer. At 26-years-old, he’s entering his fifth year in the league with 42 games of experience

Antonio Brown says he left because the Steelers were never winning a Super Bowl | Curt Popejoy, Steelers Wire

This was the case when he talked about why he forced his way into a trade. Brown was on Jason Whitlock’s podcast, “Fearless” and laid out his concerns with the Steelers and their inability to build a Super Bowl-winning squad.

“I wanted to get out of Pittsburgh because I was realizing we not going to win the Super Bowl,” Brown said. “We’re not going to do anything great. How we going to do anything great? You put in your top receiver against a kid, he’s a rookie. You think a rookie receiver gonna be able to take two double teams and the best guy every week? He’s not even prepared. We play football to be champions and to change the life of your family. I wanted to be a champion, so I’m not trying to leave the team because of the money.”
