JUST NOW: Over an alleged incident, a Penrith celebrity was arrested.

UPDATED: After being detained by police last weekend on suspicion of domestic violence last month, Panthers star Taylan May has now been formally placed on the NRL’s no-fault stand-down list.

May was selected for Penrith’s Magic Round match against the Warriors last Sunday, but she withdrew after the club stood her down.

The 22-year-old will not be allowed to play in games until his legal matter is resolved, the league has officially said. Additionally, Manly player Brandon Wakeham has been suspended following his drug-related charges.

“National Rugby League (NRL) has advised Penrith Panthers player Taylan May that he is subject to the no-fault stand down condition under the NRL rules,” stated a statement.

“May has been charged with three offenses relating to domestic abuse after an alleged incident that occurred on Monday, April 8, 2024.

“It is incorrect to read the rulings as a judgment on the guilt or innocence of any player. The players are not allowed to take part in the NRL tournament or any other competition as players under the terms.”

Penrith has also accepted the NRL’s ruling.

“The club will continue to provide support to all parties involved and will not make any further comment at this time,” read a statement.

May was given conditional bail, and on May 28 the Penrith Local Court will hear the matter.
