Mamelodi Sundowns may be preparing to add salt to Orlando Pirates’ wounds in two transfer sagas.
According to sources, Pirates have recently linked with SuperSport United’s Kegan Johannes and Sundowns’ Etiosa Ighodaro.

According to this source, the Kaizer Chiefs were the first to express interest in Johannes. It wasn’t long before word surfaced that pirates were hot on their trail. Then, in what appeared to be an anticlimax, it was announced that the player would be transferring to neither, having signed a contract renewal with SuperSport.

But two weeks ago, it was claimed that Johannes had rejected Chiefs and was ready to join Pirates. Hunt, on the other hand, was quick to refute the rumors, which were first reported by this site last Saturday.
Then, last Thursday, it was revealed that Pirates had not completed the deal for Johannes after all. According to new sources, the Chiefs are still on the search. It was also reported that Sundowns have since joined the race. It was also alleged that they were stepping up their attempts to beat out their competitors for his signature.
Will Brazilians use IGHODARO as a bait?
“The Siya crew has been informed that Mamelodi Sundowns may be interested in using Etiosa Ighodaro in a potential swap deal-plus-cash to acquire the services of SuperSport United defender Kegan Johannes.” Given their financial might, the Brazilians are widely seen as the favourites to recruit the 23-year-old. “They also have two players on loan at SuperSport that they can use as leverage,” the magazine stated.
This would be a double blow for Pirates if Sundowns used one of their targets, Ighodaro, to get another. It remains to be seen where Johannes ends up if he leaves SuperSport.
