JUST NOW: Western Conference Executive reveals’realistic’ Golden State Warriors’ All-Star trade option

The Golden State Warriors could look drastically different when the 2024-25 NBA season begins. From Klay Thompson’s impending free agency to further roster reductions in order to avoid paying the repeater tax, roster adjustments are on their way.

Yet, we’re still talking about the Warriors. As long as Stephen Curry stays in Golden State, they’ll aim to create a winning team around the four-time NBA champion. However, time is running out for the 36-year-old, which may prompt the Warriors to be more proactive in their retooling efforts this offseason.

One well-known target who could become available this summer is combo guard Dejounte Murray. While the All-Star guard has previously been mentioned in trade conversations with the Atlanta Hawks, things may be different this time.

According to a Western Conference executive who talked with The Heavy’s Sean Deveney, Murray might be one of the Warriors’ most achievable All-Stars this offseason.

Murray is about to begin the first season of a four-year, $114 million contract, which would put him up for a $25.5 million cap hit by 2024. If he can continue to play at a near-All-Star level in Golden State, he will be well worth his pay.

Murray, 27, may aid the Warriors on both ends of the floor and give some protection in case Curry decides to retire from the NBA. The Warriors may have other needs, but Murray may be a good match for Dub Nation.
