News Now: In the shadow of quarterback Caleb Williams, Bears rookie receiver Rome Odunze is off to a solid start.

While most of the spotlight this offseason is on Bears quarterback Caleb Williams, fellow rookie Rome Odunze also has big expectations. In any other year, he’d face intense scrutiny heading into the season. However, Williams’ status as the top draft pick and future franchise quarterback, combined with the Bears’ veteran receivers in DJ Moore and Keenan Allen, puts less pressure on him.

Nonetheless, Odunze has had an excellent first month as a Bear.

“He’s pretty good for where he is in the process—almost exceptional,” coach Matt Eberflus stated. “He’s doing a lot of good things even with us moving him around to different positions and moving him around.”

Desperate Vikings Attempt Position Change for Failed Bears Wideout.

The Chicago Bears enter the 2024 season with a lot of enthusiasm after making a flurry of transactions this offseason.

GM Ryan Poles totally overhauled the roster by adding Caleb Williams, Rome Odunze, Keenan Allen, D’Andre Swift, and Kevin Byard.

They feel they can challenge the Detroit Lions, Green Bay Packers, and Minnesota Vikings for the division title.
The Minnesota Vikings’ latest move was an ugly attempt to save the career of a failed Bears wide receiver.

Vikings move N’Keal Harry to tight end.
Minnesota Vikings head coach Kevin O’Connell said that N’Keal Harry will be moved to tight end after spending the first four years of his career as a wideout.

The 26-year-old was taken in the first round of the 2019 NFL Draft by the New England Patriots, but he struggled greatly. Over three seasons, Harry made 57 grabs for 598 receiving yards and four touchdowns.

Harry was traded to the Chicago Bears in July 2022, but he struggled to establish himself there as well. Despite dealing with ailments throughout his time with the Bears, he failed to perform on the field.
In seven games with the Bears in 2022, Harry had seven receptions for 116 yards and one touchdown. After Chicago chose not to re-sign Harry, he joined with Minnesota during training camp in 2023.

Harry (6’4, 225 pounds) is a physically imposing force, yet he was ineffective as a receiver. The Vikings are now trying to see if Harry can make an impact at tight end, although the odds aren’t good given his NFL history thus far.
