Just Now: Liverpool are interested in recruiting a £40 million Newcastle winger who played under …….

According to sources, Liverpool are looking to recruit Newcastle United winger Yankuba Minteh as their first signing under Arne Slot this summer.

Following Jurgen Klopp’s dramatic departure at the end of last season, Slot, former Feyenoord manager, has taken over at Anfield.

Slot joins Liverpool after winning both the Eredivisie and the KNVB Cup with Feyenoord, and he will be tasked with ensuring his new team competes for the Premier League alongside Arsenal and Manchester City.

The Dutch manager is already seeking for players to put his own stamp on the group, and the 45-year-old may look to his previous club for inspiration.

According to The Telegraph, Newcastle winger Minteh, who was on loan at Feyenoord last season, is one player Liverpool is interested in this summer.

Minteh is yet to play a minute for Newcastle, but he dazzled in the Netherlands last season, scoring 11 goals and assisting six times across all competitions.

While Newcastle value the 19-year-old, the club is thought to be open to offers of roughly £40 million for the winger as they look to alleviate concerns about profit and sustainability rules.

Liverpool may face competition from teams in Germany and Italy for the Gambia international.

Earlier this season, Newcastle manager Eddie Howe was impressed with Minteh’s performances while on loan.

‘He’s done incredibly well, and he’s embraced the challenge of coming on loan to a new league with new colleagues, playing in the Champions League and other major events,’ Howe added.

‘He’s done exceptionally well this year, and I believe he can be extremely proud of his accomplishments.’

Newcastle are also reportedly considering selling Bruno Guimaraes to alleviate financial difficulties, with the Brazilian recently admitting that his future at the club is in ‘god’s hands’.
